Reaching New Heights: Delta's New Pilot Training Center in Salt Lake City

For over two decades, Envision Engineering has been at the forefront of supporting the growth and modernization of the Salt Lake City International Airport with expert electrical engineering services. Since 1998, Envision has contributed to numerous projects at the airport—including the most recent completion of the $50 million Delta Pilot Training Center. Envision's services for this project were provided as part of the design team led by MHTN Architects for Delta Airlines.

The Delta Pilot Training Center Project

The $50 million Delta Pilot Training Center represents a significant investment in Utah. Designed to serve as a key training hub for Delta’s flight crews, it houses four full-motion flight simulators, classrooms, and administrative spaces, all equipped with the latest technology to support Delta’s flight training program. This facility is one of the most advanced in the region and will play a pivotal role in training pilots for years to come.

Envision provided comprehensive electrical engineering design services to ensure that every aspect of the facility would meet the demands of this high-tech, high-performance environment. This included designing power, lighting, audiovisual systems, security, and fire alarm systems, all tailored to the building's cutting-edge aviation technology.

Electrical Engineering Solutions for the Facility

One of the most important aspects of the electrical design was optimizing power and lighting systems to meet the specific needs of the center. Envision’s team worked closely with Delta to develop a design that would accommodate the training center's requirements while maintaining energy efficiency and sustainability.

In addition, the lighting design was customized to provide the right ambiance and functionality for different zones within the facility--whether for the classrooms, offices, or common spaces. Envision also designed advanced audio-visual systems for training and collaboration, integrated security systems, and fire alarm systems—all of which work together to ensure the safe, secure, and smooth operation of the facility.

Aleksandar Rankovic, Principal Project Engineer at Envision, said, “It has been an important priority for our firm and a privilege to serve the growth at the Airport over the years. Working with MHTN and Delta on this latest project was a great opportunity.” Envision's continued commitment to quality design, energy efficiency, and sustainability is evident in the Delta Pilot Training Center, where energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible solutions were prioritized throughout the design process.

Looking Ahead: Envision’s Continued Role in Airport Development

As the Salt Lake City International Airport continues to evolve, Envision is dedicated to remaining a trusted partner in shaping the future of this world-class transportation hub. From advanced electrical systems to energy-efficient design solutions, Envision’s work will continue to ensure that the airport and its associated facilities meet the demands of the aviation industry now and in the future.
