Zions Bank Headquarters Building Remodel

Envision Engineering played a pivotal role as the electrical engineering consultant for the award-winning renovation of the Zions Bank Headquarters, an iconic high-rise in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The scale of the comprehensive remodel for this 21-story, 280,000 SF office building involved architectural services by numerous design firms and general contractors. Envision worked directly with Zions Securities on the building core; Zions Bank, GSBS Architects, and Richardson Design Partnership for tenant improvements; and, MHTN Architects to complete the design for the new exterior façade.

Services included electrical engineering to upgrade efficiency, reliability, and safety for the high-rise; including designing new power distribution systems, upgrading existing electrical panels, and integrating building automation systems to optimize energy use and performance.

The project also included interior lighting design, as well as the exterior lighting design, to significantly enhance the building's nighttime aesthetics and showcase the new building façade. A prominent feature of the lighting design is the building's landmark illuminated "lantern" at the top of the high-rise. In addition, lighting design was also completed for the large-scale Zions Bank logo signage atop the building--a challenging design feat due to the limited setback space of the existing building. Envision also incorporated energy-efficient LED lighting systems and advanced controls within the interiors to create significant energy savings.

As part of the remodel, Envision also upgraded the telecommunications infrastructure to support high-speed internet and advanced networking capabilities; integrated audiovisual systems in remodeled spaces; as well as designed electronic security systems, fire alarm systems, CCTV surveillance, and access control systems.

Throughout the construction phase, our team worked closely with the design and construction teams to ensure the electrical installations were executed according to specifications. Envision also developed plans to minimize disruptions and ensure that needed power and essential services were maintained throughout construction.
