Ogden Technical High School
Ogden School District | Ogden, Utah
Through a partnership between the Ogden School District and the Ogden Weber Technical College, the new Ogden Technical High School (OTECH) is a unique, advanced high school campus project. The central objective was to merge the benefits of a traditional high school curriculum with early access to college-level technological and trade programs/certifications for high school students. The building was designed with flexible spaces to accommodate learning in the areas of automotive, business and computer technology, construction, culinary arts, health, manufacturing, and service industries.
As the electrical engineering consultant on the design team, Envision engineered plans to support the electrical, lighting, and energy demands of the technologically advanced school. In addition, Envision worked to innovatively integrate the new OTECH High School with the existing Ogden Weber Technical College campus electrical standards and systems—particularly fire alarm and intercom systems, as well as matching exterior light poles.
The project was also designed during an economic shortage of electrical gear and transformers. To overcome this challenge, Envision initiated early procurement so the building could be complete and operational on schedule.
