UTA 650 South Main TRAX Light Rail Station
Utah Transit Authority | Salt Lake City, Utah
Envision provided electrical engineering for the planning, design, and construction of this $2 million Trax light rail station in downtown Salt Lake City.
Envision collaborated closely with UTA and the design team related to the specialized infrastructure required for the station. This station was added to the Trax line in response to significant redevelopment and growth in the downtown area; and was the first station to be primarily completed with private developer funds. Envision provided electrical engineering for the new transit facility including switchboards, communications, and fiber optics for Trax operations, as well as electrical engineering services for station lighting and power systems.
The new station was designed and built along existing light rail tracks built as part of the 1997 original plan in the 650 South area which was earmarked for a future station. With recent growth and development in the immediate surrounding area, including over five major office and multi-unit apartment buildings (ranging from 170 to 241-units) the need for the new station was realized and accomplished.
