Tracy Aviary Visitors Center
Salt Lake City Corporation | Salt Lake City, Utah
Envision Engineering provided electrical design services for the $3.9 million, 10,350 SF Tracy Aviary Visitors Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This facility includes vibrant new entry spaces, multipurpose areas, a gift shop, education spaces and office space for the Aviary staff. The electrical engineering scope included interior/exterior lighting design, security design, CCTV design, daylight dimming controls, photovoltaic design and other energy efficient strategies to meet the LEED® Gold certification.
The interior lighting featured cable suspended indirect fluorescent lighting fixtures which were installed below the ceiling gird for the classroom environments. Wall mounted indirect fluorescents and metal halide down lights are used in circulation areas and other non-working areas while lay-in fluorescent semi-direct fixtures were used in private offices to produce 50-foot candle average illumination. Envision also provided design for occupancy sensors through the building automation system to reduce the hours that the lights are on when the spaces are unoccupied.
