Skyline High School Replacement
Granite School District | Salt Lake City, Utah
The replacement of Skyline High School in Utah is a comprehensive construction project aimed at creating a state-of-the-art educational facility to better serve the local community. The project included meticulous planning and phasing to completely replace the large, vibrant high school simultaneously without interrupting school operations or displacing students. Safety was a top priority for completing construction on this very active student campus.
As an integral member of the design team, Envision Engineering is responsible for electrical engineering. This occurred throughout the three phases of the project, ensuring that all electrical systems are efficiently integrated, safe, and sustainable.
Phase 1 included the construction of the athletic building which involved demolition of the existing swimming pool, gym, and auditorium. The new athletic building was constructed on an adjacent existing playing field and includes a new swimming pool, two gyms, a dance room, a cardio room, a weight room, a wrestling room, and coaches' offices. Envision's innovative lighting design, particularly with the use of technologically advanced germicidal lighting to reduce bacteria and infection spread within the athletic building locker and fitness rooms, was recognized in Designing Lighting. This phase also included electrical site engineering and lighting design for the baseball and football fields.
Phase 2 of the project includes a new 4-story primary academic and classroom building comprised Phase 2 and was built in the location of the former athletics building. The modernized layout includes classrooms, a cafeteria/kitchen, a commons area, a counseling center, and administrative offices. This phase also included electrical site engineering and lighting design for softball, lacrosse, tennis courts, and soccer fields.
Phase 3 of the project includes a new auditorium and performing arts facilities. In addition to electrical engineering, Envision provided the design for a high-end theatrical lighting system and acoustics analysis for the performing arts center, which includes a black box theater, choir room, band room, scene shop, office, storage, main lobby, and entrance.
Envision’s comprehensive approach ensures that Skyline High School's electrical infrastructure throughout the new campus will meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and sustainability, providing a cutting-edge environment for future generations.
