Public safety is a critical concern for any community, especially those experiencing rapid population growth and geographical expansion. As part of our commitment to enhancing civic and community infrastructure, Envision Engineering takes pride in playing a key role in enhancing the civic infrastructure of Brigham City, Utah, through our involvement in the Box Elder Public Safety Building project.

The Box Elder Public Safety Building is a robust facility designed to consolidate the Highway Patrol, DPS Emergency Communications, and Driver License Divisions under one roof. This approach is necessary due to the increased demand for emergency calls, staffing, and critical services, given the population growth in the Utah valley. Different divisions will have separate areas, with a common space for fitness, breaks, and trainings.

Scope of Services

Envision Engineering is providing a comprehensive set of electrical engineering services for the project, including but not limited to:

  • Electrical Power Distribution and Quality

  • Lighting Design and Controls

  • Low-voltage Electronic Systems

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) Studies

  • Construction Administration

  • Bidding and Negotiation

We also provided rough-in design, which includes locations of equipment and devices, boxes and conduit, power, and data provisions, for the following systems:

  • Telecommunications and Internet/WiFi Networks

  • Audio Visual Systems

  • Electronic Safety and Security

  • Renewable Energy

Technical Challenges

The project required the meticulous planning and execution of a radio tower installation, adhering to specific RF (radio frequency) pathways and L3 Harris grounding standards. Additionally, each division's area posed unique requirements for lighting, control systems, power distribution, and data networks. Our team’s expertise enabled us to meet these diverse needs while maintaining design coherence.

Project Insights

The Box Elder Public Safety Building offered valuable lessons in product availability and design standards for RF line entrances. We gained an in-depth understanding of L3 Harris grounding specifications, thereby enriching our knowledge for future undertakings.

Community Impact

The Box Elder Public Safety Building serves as a benchmark for the seamless integration of governmental planning and advanced electrical engineering. Once completed, the facility will be a significant asset to the community by enhancing the emergency and driver services available in the expanding Utah Valley.

As the project approaches its final stages, Envision Engineering is privileged to be part of an endeavor that promises to elevate public safety standards in the Utah community.
